Creole Pecan Praline Recipe Ingredients
- ¼ cup evaporated milk
- ½ cup white sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 tbs butter, cut in pieces
- 1 cup pecan pieces
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Creole Pecan Praline Instructions
- Bring the milk and sugar to a boil over low heat stirring often and simmer for 3 minutes.
- Add butter and pecans. Bring back to a boil.
- Remove from heat and add the vanilla.
- Transfer to a small bowl and continue stirring until the mixture starts to thicken.
- Using a small shallow ladle, spoon 12 even disks onto a sheet of parchment or wax paper.
- Allow to cool for about 45 min. or until completely hard.
PRO TIP: Soft-Ball Test
Carefully drizzle a teaspoon of the boiling sugar mixture into a bowl of clean, cold water. Allow it to cool for a few seconds then try to roll the mixture into a ball between your fingers. If a ball forms the mixture is ready.
